Carbon Cleanup GmbH is a technology start-up from Linz (Tabakfabrik)[nbsp].
Implementation of a fiber composite (carbon fiber) recycling plant based on a process and plant patent. The technology solves a serious problem in the disposal of hazardous waste (fibers are respirable such as asbestos, resins are carcinogenic and mutagenic), which currently has to be disposed of in landfills. The recycling system consists of the Carbon CleanupTruck (mobile processing unit, hermetically sealed for shredding and grading hazardous waste) and the associated collection pods for hazardous waste.
The software component of the Carbon Cleanup Recycling System maps all processes relating to logistics and material quality, creating a large digital data set with considerable added value for the industry. The system will be extended to other materials in the future. The decontaminated material is recycled in the steel mill process as a carbon supplier (instead of coke). End of the landfill.
There is great interest from the industry, as the ongoing legal changes (EU circular economy action plan, Austrian Landfill Ordinance Amendment 2020) will soon result in the end of landfills.
