PIER4-Erfa round hosted by A1 Telekom

The ideas of tomorrow are born when the most innovative minds of forward-looking companies come together.

Austria's largest mobile communications provider A1 Telekom and PIER4 hosted an ERFA round on April 27 at a very special location: the new Raiffeisen Arena in Linz. The most innovative minds in our country met in the Business Lounge to work together on the innovations of tomorrow.

"What doesn't a startup have at the beginning?" Claudia Panozzo from A1Startup Campus clearly showed that there is a lack of structure and/or money, for example. Why and above all how A1 Telekom works together with startups was shown using best practice examples.

Richard Palmetzhofer, Director Business Area of A1 Telekom, reported on the early days of mobile communications, the first approaches and challenges of implementing a web store and that the first data bit sent in Upper Austria came from voestalpine. Richard Palmetzhofer is certain that a new generation will come in 10 years' time, with 5G being followed by 6G and 7G, so that something will/must change radically in the network structure.

Andreas Kreiner from KTM spoke about the results of the AI Inno Camp, which took place at the KTM Motohall in March. In particular, which tools are useful for companies, ranging from ChatGPT, Midjourney, D-ID to Runway ML, the tools were tested and corresponding recommendations for action were given.

Afterwards, the participants eagerly worked on the exciting topics that the PIER 4 partners deal with in their daily work in the field of open innovation and in cooperation with start-ups:

  • Innovation culture: What does optimal collaboration in open innovation with higher-level departments look like?
  • Innovation operations: How can employees be involved in the innovation process?
