Electrical Engineering/Sensor Technology 2012

Abstract:
Sensideon offers robust wireless sensor and identification systems with a focus on extreme environmental conditions such as high temperatures and pressures. So-called SAW transponder systems (Surface Acoustic Wave) work only with the energy of the radio signal, do not require an external energy supply such as a battery, are low-maintenance and environmentally friendly. The systems work where other technologies have so far failed due to the harsh operating conditions – e.g. in the steel/metal industry, forging or casting. For the first time, SAW transponders allow seamless identification and metrological recording of moving objects in temperature- and pressure-intensive manufacturing processes. The company is located in Wels, in close proximity to numerous large industrial companies.

Founder Profile:
Dr. René Fachberger, founder and managing director of sensideon, learned SAW technology in one of the pioneer groups of Siemens AG and later EPCOS AG. As a key researcher within the framework of the Austrian COMET program, he led several national and international development projects in various branches of industry and led the SAW transponder systems from the laboratory to the application.

Dr. Fachberger has published numerous scientific articles and patents and is considered one of the leading experts in his field. His founding partner Mr. Christoph Werner takes over the technical area of software development. He specializes in the field of digital signal processing (DSV) and hardware-related programming (embedded systems) and was significantly involved in the development of the first biometric reading systems for access control.

Products:
The SAW transponder systems from sensideon open up completely new, innovative solutions in the field of measurement and control technology.

The Sensors

  • Work wirelessly
  • transmit an identification number (RFID)
  • measure and transmit the temperature of the transponder
  • operate at high temperatures and pressures
  • are ideal for measurements on moving objects
  • do not require a battery and are maintenance-free
  • spark well in metallic environments
