My Esel is the world's first custom-made and individually designed bicycle that can be mass-produced ("Mass Customization"). Right from the start, My Esel is also the most affordable custom-built bike on the market.
A production process unique in the bike industry combines biometric software (calculates the frame geometry and creates production data) with a flat frame construction. Innovative materials (sandwich materials made of wood and carbon, known from aircraft construction) that have not yet been considered in bicycle construction are used for frame construction.
The My Donkey concept is disruptive for the bike industry because it produces bicycles locally and demand-oriented (very low capital investment and high margins compared to the industry). It is easily scalable and has comparatively high barriers to market entry (software, production know-how, utility model protection).
