MATTES 3D allows changes in the position and shape of stent grafts after endovascular repair of an aortic aneurysm to be recorded and evaluated at a glance. The software solution is based on an invention that won the CAST Technology Award 2006 and the first "Upper Austrian Medical Technology Award" in 2011.
In biological research, we use our MATTES Cell Motility Analyzer (MATTES CellMo) software to analyze videos of living cell images, determine the movements and tracks of individual cells and calculate parameters to characterize cell movement.

An aortic aneurysm is a pathological widening or bulging of the aorta (main artery) caused by a weakened aortic wall. If the aneurysm becomes too large, there is a risk of rupture, i.e. the aneurysm threatens to burst, which is associated with major blood loss and immediate danger to life. Older people are particularly affected.
During endovascular treatment of the aneurysm, a tube-like plastic-coated metal mesh, known as a stent graft, is inserted into the aorta to cover the site of the bulge. This allows the blood to flow through the stent graft and not into the aneurysm sac. Over the years following the procedure, the stent-graft can migrate and deform, which can lead to life-threatening complications. Lifelong monitoring with annual computed tomography scans (CT scans) is therefore necessary. A further minimally invasive procedure at an early stage can largely prevent complications.
