Abstract:
The company is characterized by the philosophy of establishing Archaea microorganisms as an independent living domain for the direct use of CO2 of any purity. The product methane is to be used in mobility. Methanogenesis is integrated into the overall concept of the closed carbon cycle. The company Krajete GmbH develops technologies for the material recycling of CO2, but also syngas, to CH4. [nbsp] Derived from this vision, the following unique selling point developed: 1 step methane production from carbon oxides and hydrogen under mild conditions and high tolerance.

In the absence of oxygen, 4 billion years ago, life began to evolve. So-called methanogenic archaea microorganisms have survived the Earth's history. Their metabolism of methanogenesis shows unique properties in the direct utilization of CO2 to methane. The behaviour of these microorganisms combines the advantages of biology with those of chemistry. Therefore, in 2007 we decided to rely only on methanogenic microorganisms and to develop their metabolism as a process, while we only use the competing process of chemical methanation ("hydrogenation of CO2" or "Sabatier process") as a benchmark or comparison process.
We now have exclusive know-how in the selection and targeted breeding of methanogenic microorganisms depending on the area of application – electricity storage or energy efficiency in various industries. Since each application is specific, we adapt our microbes to the specific conditions.
The advantage of our biocatalysts lies in their frugality and advantageous process properties such as turnover speed, robustness to impurities and production fluctuations, as well as their ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions (see also the chapter "FAQ"). Where the chemical comparison process is irreversibly stopped, the biological process begins to flourish and unfolds its full strength, developed over 4 billion years.
