The main objectives are the development of antiviral products such as mouth-nose sprays made from an aerosol solution or lozenges as comprehensive protection against viruses and bacteria. The active ingredient is a human lectin, which occurs naturally (banana lectin) as well as can be produced artificially and has manose binding properties. This is to prevent a virus from being able to communicate with a cell at all. In this way, the MBL protein is supposed to prevent the virus from entering the cell and thus avoid infection. This has already been confirmed in laboratory and animal experiments (POC).
The USP concerns the ease of use as a nasal spray, quick action and the handiness as an on-the-go product that can be reused at any time, ready to hand. It provides additional safety in public, so that conventional protective masks can increasingly be dispensed with.
