Startup MatheArena: Cooperation with textbook publisher Veritas

Source: Incubator

Lernapp MatheArena aims to take the fear out of math as a subject. A cooperation with the school book publisher Veritas was also launched with the new school year.

Learning mathematics in a fun way - that is the idea behind the MatheArena app. The aim is to enable flexible, paperless and mobile learning, for example while waiting for the bus or train. The idea for the app came to founder and former math and religion teacher Gerald Infanger when he was looking for digital learning aids for his students in 2014. Language learning apps were already very popular back then - but he couldn't find an app for learning math in the Google Play Store.

Together with his wife Eva-Maria Infanger and with the support of the Linz incubator tech2b, Infanger finally founded MatheArena. Nine years after its creation, the company is now officially making it into the classroom. From the 2023/2024 school year, the MatheArena app will accompany Veritas Verlag's textbooks in secondary schools and AHS lower grades. "Our vision is to make mathematics an international language that connects young people from all over the world and inspires enthusiasm for learning," explains Eva-Maria Infanger.

New solutions for old challenges

The Pro version of MatheArena Junior can be unlocked free of charge for pupils using a code in the mathematics textbooks from Veritas-Verlag in the 2023 curriculum. "Our app solves urgent problems in the education sector. The demand for tech-savvy people is increasing, students need motivating learning methods and teachers are facing numerous challenges," emphasizes Gerald Infanger. "We are convinced that the MathArena app offers a solution by increasing motivation for STEM subjects and enabling independent learning."
