Together with his wife and parents-in-law, Andreas runs an organic farm - the Streuobstwerkstatt. They produce high-quality food from the harvest of the many apple, pear and nut trees. They also support other farmers.
So what does biodiversity mean? A meadow orchard is an ark for biodiversity. Countless insects and wild animals feel at home in such a meadow orchard and there is a variety of apple, pear and nut varieties. "Our mission is to use small means to preserve this habitat," says Andreas.
Andreas sees the impact in terms of sustainability in two areas:
-
Economic impact: Farmers are prepared to preserve orchards and
-
Ecological impact: preserving this animal habitat - it needs diversity and that is what we stand for
"tech2b and the tourism incubator program was a very important support for us," says Andreas. We have been able to develop further, e.g. in terms of product diversity. We also attended various workshops such as marketing, pricing and target group definition. We had many supporters and mentors who were experts at our side.
What have you learned from challenging times?
The most important learning for me was to "persevere" and believe in my idea, but not in a convulsive way. You also have to talk to a lot of people around you. I think you always have to turn left or right along the way, but you should stick to the idea you believe in and persevere.
A message to the community: at the end of the day, you can be a little brave. It should be well considered, "am I prepared to go that extra mile?" As a startup, you often have to limit yourself and need a family to support you. If you are prepared to go that extra mile, then there is nothing to stop you from boldly implementing your ideas.
Describe tech2b in 3 words: tech2b is for me:
- Backing
- Network
- open platform
